Hungry

I still get the same thing from time to time after ~3 years of being "skinny". It's a design flaw in the human body and brain. it sucks, but you just need to find ways to game around it.

One important thing is exercise. It's pretty useless for losing weight in the first instance, but absolutely essential for maintaining weight loss. Simply, as you lose weight, the amount of energy yr body burns before taking exercise into account reduces, but your hunger remains the same. You will still eat the same amount of calories; so you need to burn the difference through more exercise.

How much exercise? The landmark study looking at particpants in the horrendous US "Biggest Loser" circus concluded that people who managed to maintain weight loss generallly did about 80 minutes per day of moderate exercise

Another thing is to eat things which will maximsie satiety - ie the feeling of fullness. Basically, that's fibre and protein, mainly.

Thirdly, ignore the crappy Internet messages which say that carbs are worse for weight loss, hunger etc than other macronutrients. This has been comprehensively refuted in multiple studies and it is a message only pushed by people trying to sell you stuff, or people fooled by these charlatans.

An excellent book for a broad view on the context for all this is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D8JYQD6/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1

Carbs are terrific for weight loss. Prior to 10 Years ago when I literally walked miles, more than once a day, you could more or less eat what you fancied because you walked it off. There is a history of diabetes in my family, both types. None of my type 2 relatives had a weight problem and were very careful with their food.

I have extremely painful arthritis, thus walking is now impossible for me, and apart from loving being outdoors, I am a prisoner in my body. I go out in the car but that’s all, plus lockdown has affected me greatly. I no longer enjoy my life.

If everyone who can starts to exercise you will not forget its benefits.

Salted nuts may make you more thirsty, and toooo much salt is not too good so probably unsalted would be better. But up to you I suppose if you don't have too many at once.
That's why pubs serve salted nuts so you buy more drinks. Cynical maybe.

My downfall is crisps or salted peanuts etc Pring!es are not allowed in the house ! I put a handful of almonds with a little olive oil in a small dish season well salt ,barbeque seasoning ,chilli powder or whatever you like give a quick blast in the microwave .Bits the spot even if your fingers get a bit oily !

I find my snacking and nibbling goes in phases. I can certainly get into a habit of having a little something at certain times... and then lo and behold, when those times approach I get hunger pangs. And the more often I snack, the more determined the pangs!

But if I am in a different location (meeting others outside... running an errand...) then I am distracted and the snack time passes unnoticed.

That’s why I think many have found lockdown so hard. Because we’ve been surrounded by temptation more often!

I find that having coffee with double cream in it takes away hunger, and it enables me to go from round about 8 o'clock at night to lunch time the following day. If I don't have the cream hunger pangs return with a vengeance.
