Hello guys
Im new to this forum and im lookin for some advice on this insulin.

I take it twice a day 7 am and 10 pm i have noticed by 9pm my sugar starts to rise and keeps rising to about 15/18 and thats it all night. Does anyone think my insulin is wearing off and could i move this to 7pm to catch the rise in sugar?

I really am at my wits end with this jus want stable sugar levels as i have not really controlled my diabeteala for years and i now realise how important it is.
Pleaase and thanks.

So - what fast acting do you take with it? And do you carb count?

Hi i take novorapid for meals and yeas i carb count with a ratio of 1.5 to 10g carbs
Thanks

The 'I' stands for intermediate, so humulin I is a bit like NPH/soluble insulin, and could well have a shorter duration... Have you tried your doses 12h apart (as you suggest maybe 7am and 7pm, but it could be 10am/10pm or any convenient time really)? And have you varied your evening dose to counter the highs overnight?

Hi
Thanks. I have tried taking more at bed time but it doesnt help much i was finding im hugher. I want to try takin it at 7 tonight but scared as its 3 hiurs earlier than normal. If i do does itnmatter what time i eat dinner then. I have been doin the old 3 am testing and no drops x

I think this is something you really should discuss with your DSN/Consultant. It may be you need a longer acting insulin to get you through the night at more reasonable levels. In the meantime, would it be possible to split the dose, taking half at 7pm and the rest before bed? If I'm understanding this right, the problem seems to be stopping the rise in BGs in the evening before bed?
