Huge jump in insulin needs.

If you are going low at any point at all, without eating and without bolus then your basal dose is too high.
..... Or the basal insulin you are using is not meeting your needs.....
Personally I could never manage on Tresiba because I need much less insulin at night than I do through the day.
Split dose Levemir enables you to increase the morning dose if you are going high through the day but decrease the evening dose if you are dropping too low at night. Tresiba releases the same amount of insulin day and night which doesn't suit everyone and you need to adjust the dose so that you are not hypoing through the night, as that has to be the priority. If you increase it, you may need to eat snacks like cheese and biscuits at bedtime to help prevent your levels dropping too low through the night.
