Most nights about 10pm ish I test my BG which is around 6 or 7 ish. I then have a couple of slices of toast before bed. Next morning I get up to BGs in the 8s.

All Saturday afternoon and evening I fancied a chip buttie, so when my daughter came home from her evening shift we decided to make some home made chips, I tested my BG which showed 7.4, but I decided what the hell I'm having my chips which I enjoyed with and egg and a nice crunchie baquette.
I got up 7.30 this morning as normal and my BG was 6.0 Yet I took no insulin to cover the carbs in that meal.

Moral of this story. for me. Chip butties before bed for low morning fastings BGs 😉:D

John.

That's a great - if unexpected and illogical! - result! 🙂 You'll have to try and repeat the experiment to see if it's consistently true 🙂

Lol John, sounds like a good plan :D

Slow acting carbohydrate John!

I ate a small plate of 'cheesy chips' whilst we were out last Monday - we'd had to go somewhere in the afternoon so had no tea which was a bad plan, and had gone to a spa we go on odd occasions near where we were going anyway - where we were in and out of the hot-tub, sauna and steam room for a couple of hours (plenty of chatting in between times LOL) so my pump was off, after about an hour of being there I checked and had a correction and another before we left - I had iffy BG for the whole of the next day. The heat normally lowers my BG anyway so I wasn't too worried.

I never considered it, just fancied em when I saw em on the menu. But next time I'll stick to a sandwich I think!

Fat on the chips, very melty cheese so that had to be high fat cheese anyway - once I REALLY thought about it - slowed the carbs down too much. Of course with the pump on, I'd have dripped the bolus in over a number of hours. Oh well !

V pleased for you that you got the opposite result !

I was not trying to test or prove anything with this, I was just being bloody minded because I fancied some chip butties, and nothing was going to stop me :D

The result was both a shock and a pleasant surprise, for the best I was expecting was between 9 or 10 🙂

After yesterdays good result, things soon change..

Last night I had before bed, 2 slices seeded bread toasted and tested at 3.30 this morning and was 6.9
at 7.30 am It was 8.0.
