Me. I find them very upsetting. Being given a row for high results due to following to the letter their so-called "healthy eating" recommendations. I now eat lower carb which doc told me to stop even though my HBA1c reduced from 12.7% to 7.2% in the first 3 months of doing it. Pressure also about testing and the awful side effects of various tablets just dismissed. My present diet has let me come off all tablets.

I get me own HBA1Cs done every so often through a kit you buy (called Glucomen?) and send off to a lab but the poll did not allow one to give 2 answers!

I read this forum with a great deal of interest but tend to lurk rather than actively participate.

wow well done on you hermit i aint ever heard of anyone doing that , good ya x

usually every 3 months, i probably don't need it done that often but I like the feedback and reasurrance that things are going ok.

Hi all,

Nathan has his done at every clinic appointment, which is between 10-12 wks.

Results are given in about 5mins

Heidi
🙂

Only had one but I think it was about 6 months or so after diagnosis. 🙂

i do go every 3 - 5 months to a nhs centre but it will alll change when i move as i will have to book it through the consultant work have lined up for me 🙂

Until recently I got tested yearly after my hospital appointment, but had one 2 months ago as I had to many hypo's.
Getting the results in 5 mins is really good. It normally takes 4 weeks before I get mine.

sorry i forgot to mention i also get my results in about 5 mins and see my consultant everytime i am at the clinic to.

I get mine done as part of my anual check-up.

I am starting to get a complex because it doesn't matter what thread i look at I feel I am being hard done by.
Appointments - annually
Feet - my concerns not listenend to
Diet- more chance of getting an audience with the pope than with a dietician
Keytones - never been told about these
carb counting - never been told about this.
Eyes - got a letter to say there have been changes, didn't say what changes but said it wasn't sight threatening.
Asked if i could be referred to a hospital - was told perfectly good clinic held in the drs surgery (I don't think so!) Have now written to gp about this though.
I don't want to be diabetic anymore:(

Clearly, the GP's clinic is NOT a perfectly good one, for all the reasons you've just listed! I hope that your letter to the GP causes some improvements for you Lorraine.
