How much salt do you eat per day?

I used the US supertracker for a days foods for a course recently . The only food I put in with no sodium was lemon juice, the food with the greatest amount for that day was milk. It all mounts up.
It's worth doing as an exercise and the database is more accurate than the crowd sourced ones . It's a hassle though because you have to use cups and oz.
They suggest a max of 1500mg Sodium
( I think that's for those over a certain age 50 or 60, but I know from the course I was doing that is the same figure that they give for people with diabetes)

Went shopping today, unsalted butter now in the fridge, looked at the labels on foods I normally eat, 18%, 22%, 25% etc of ones daily recomended salt intake. Even foods that one might of thought were healthier options still contained a high % of ones recommend daily intake. :(

Looks like the challenge will be to find lower-salt substitutes of those items then pav - or don your chref's hat and make your own! 🙂

I make bread without salt which helps massively, if you eat bread that is, because commercial bread is loaded with the stuff. If you have a bread maker it's really easy, without it needs some elbow grease 🙂. That could help to get rid of some salt. I have a local bakery that will make salt free bread to order, but be careful if you try that because I discovered that mine uses live yeast which requires lots of sugar to feed it which is I assume why it gives me a big BS spike 🙄
