I was just reading online about smoothies how it is better to use vegetables rather than fruit. I do tend to get higher bloodsugars but I think that's because I use bananas, was just wondering does anybody have any low sugar smoothie recipes or any good ideas ??

I haven't had a smoothie since I was diagnosed, so not much help to you, sorry! I do know that most commercial fruit smoothies use bananas as their base and are absolutely packed with sugar, so must be avoided. With any fruit, if you pulverise it then you are going to make it digest more quickly and therefore hit your blood glucose levels faster and harder - better to just eat the fruit, as you also tend to consume far less whole fruit than you would in a smoothie.

Hopefully, some others will be able to let you know about some veggie smoothies, which ought to be much better as low in carbs 🙂

I don't do smoothies either I'm afraid, too much sugar and too quickly digested which means the BGs soar heavenwards at a rate of knots. If I have fruit, it's usually berries or an occasional orange eaten fresh.
