How do YOU count carbs?

I find the carbs and cals app on my phone invaluable. The thin I like best is the fact that if there isn't an item there I regularly use, I can not only put it on myself, I can take a picture of it so I can see the portion size without having to weigh it every time. For example I have a small glass of kefir every day. I took the nutritional information from the carton and put on the app, I put it in the glass I use that corresponds with the carb and calor count, put the glass against the carton to show the size of the glass and took a photograph of it. Originally there was a free version but that seems to have disappeared

My computer doesn't 'scan' barcodes and I only have a pay as you go phone with no internet access. I'll stick with the book as I'm an old fogie :D

I'm 77 and have enough IT in my life with this laptop.

I use "Weight by Date". I guess it does pretty much the same as any app. I just weigh what I eat. On the down side it's very Americanized and has a large database of US processed foods. I don't eat processed foods so not a problem. Gives me up to 10 nutritional pieces of data including carbs. I'm sure there's other Windows based bits of software.
