How do I know if my diabetic nurse can prescribe and what training they have

Glic wouldn't necessarily work either. It certainly did nothing for me, nor did Metformin, but changing my diet did help short term as the insulin I was still able to produce, had less work to do, so I don't agree that getting their HbA1c down to 37 necessarily rules out Type 1/LADA
 
My last ‘diabetic review’ was carried out by an NVQ 3 Nursing Assistant and that seems to be as good as it gets at my surgery! 🙄
 
But the OP was also on gliclazide originally, though they don't say for how long.
Gliclazide can’t make a pancreas that has stopped producing any insulin produce more either. If gliclazide or metformin work really well for someone it makes it unlikely they’re T1.

My insulin production is low and my experience with T2 meds is that literally none of them lowered my a1c, my a1c just got higher until I got insulin. Even diets didn’t lower my a1c without insulin.
