BG was 21 two hours ago at 4pm. Had 6 units humalog but it has only come down to 17.8 . Want to reduce the BG because we are going out for OHs birthday dinner in 40 minutes but the high BG is making me fell Yucky....trying to judge how much humalog needed to bring it down without risking a hypo........hypo treatment doesn't work when I've eaten a meal because of the gastroparesis......serves me right for not wearing the CGM for a few days.....it is now firmly reattached but won't work for another two hours.

In thoe circunstances, I make sure I have some humalog on board, then run around a bit or play on the Wii.

Surprising how little you need to do to get the BG to drop. It's only dangerous to exercise above 13 or so if you have no active insulin on board. SO as long as you give it 3/4 hour to get into your system, you should be ok.

Enjoy your meal.🙂

Thanks Rob I hadn't thought of that I will try it now before I put on my LBD

Just don't overdo it !

I have got carried before and gone on til BG drops to about 5, then it keeps dropping.🙄

I usually let it get to about 10 or 11 and it might just dip to about 7 or 8.

Good luck.🙂

Thanks Rob I danced around the living room to SClun7 much to the amusement of Susie and OH. Managed to get BG down to 13.5 not brilliant but felt much happier that I only needed an extra two units of humalog.....so was able to have a really nice meal🙂

That's brilliant Amanda. Hope you danced as well as Russel and Flavia ! :D

I've spent many an evening sat miserably on the sofa waiting for BG to drop and scared to move.

Then it occurred to me that once the humalog is in the bloodstream, it can only speed up the rate at which it will soak up the excess. And boy does it soak it up ! 😱:D

Glad you enjoyed the meal.🙂
