Hi I am not sure but someone here will know. I onky know that the heat from the sun makes bs drop and you need less insulin abroard. It may be to do with sweating but could have made that up !!🙂

Yes, heat can speed up insulin absorption, hence why folks on insulin have to be cautious when using saunas and steam rooms (to avoid a hypo) 🙂

Interesting ......so all I have to do is move to Australia and im cured?! 😛

Interesting indeed redkite.....I never new that!!! and I love my hot baths 😱

See.....you learn something new on this forum everyday!! :D

Morning all. 🙂 Just as Redkite says, when you're hot you blood moves more quickly round the body, so if you've got insulin on board it's in the bloodstream, on a rollercoaster ride! I thought this would just make it work more quickly, but no! It seems to grow in strength too. It's a pain on a nice day - after lunch I lurk indoors, even sitting outside in the shade I sometimes go hypo. Lol:D

Ive been cold ever since I was diagnosed...so Im really really looking forward to summer...if and when it gets here!
Lucky you Bloden..living in Spain! x

Enjoy your bath, assuming you have normal feeling in your feet and hands, with the bonus of improved blood glucose level afterwards. I remember reading an article in New Scientist online a few years ago, which outlined the benefits of regular warm baths for people with type 2 diabetes. If I can find it, and it's free to access, I'll post the link.

Moving to somewhere hot doesn't work! - it does for a while, usually about 10 days, then you acclimatise.

I used to regularly go to Southern Crete for summers hols and didn't have to bolus at all until we went for dinner about 8pm, despite sharing an enormous doughnut with my husband on the beach in afternoons. For the first week to 10 days that is .... then after that over 2 to 3 days, I would have to bolus again.

Lovely while it lasts!

I don't live in mega hot Spain - that kind of heat is no good when you have to go to work! - but at least we get a summer. THAT's one of the reasons I moved here.🙂🙂
