I do the wedding ring trick now although, like others, I don't get them often thankfully. Hope you get this sorted once and for all as they're nasty.

I used to get them but haven't had one since just before diagnosis, in fact I'd not had one for 20 years and then one popped up about 2 months before I was admitted to hospital and it was still there when I was admitted. Mine was just near the tear duct, and my entire body was dry as a bone, so the dryness apparently caused a resistant infection. They flushed the tear duct for me with antibacterial stuff and then gave me antibiotics which seemed to do the trick. Might be worth another trip to the doctor.

Incidentally an optician told me not to use those eye drops because they're expensive and the doctor can prescribe better options so maybe the GP could help with something less hard on the pocket?

Hmmm...as a confirmed bachelor, I'm a bit stuck if I get one! 😱 😉
Nah just get a pair of tweezers and give it a good squeeze. Eyes will water a bit though 😱:D

Ooo that's a bit scary kooky because mine is in the same place and there's nothing to squeeze out of it, it's just intensely red and inflamed. There is a possibility I have Sjorgrens Syndrome which is an auto immune condition causing severe eye and salivary dryness (amongst other systemic conditions) so my GP already prescribes me expensive drops which I know some others struggle to get.

Your experience sounds very nasty and is a good warning to me because I can't fight infection well and my temp is slightly up. It actually looks a bit better today but I'll contact the GP later for advice I think. Many thanks for all the advice.

Are you sure it is a stye , as I went through a phase as a child of getting cysts, that became infected. I eventually had to have them surgically removed.

Update;

I'm very grateful to the people who've been kind enough to advise and support me with this particularly kooky who has very likely saved me from becoming very ill with this! Thanks kooky! 🙂
After reading kooky's experience, I took my temperature and was shocked to see it had spiked. I normally run at quite a low temp. So I took myself off to the walk in clinic at my GP's. Upshot is I have a bad infection and a stye over my tear duct but the main concern is an infection in the lacrimal gland (hence the swelling under my eye). The GP has put me on a strong course of oral antibiotics and antibiotic gel. My temp was raised so she's told me to take paracetamol and rest. I've also been referred to an Eye Surgeon because this appears to be a chronic condition.

It does show the benefit of sharing experiences with others because sometimes conditions that appear simple can be much more serious. Just hope it settles now because infections are hazardous to me.

Ah! Good to hear that you have got treatment for it, and hopefully averted something that might have turned out worse than suspected. I hope the anti-b's do the trick and that you recover quickly 🙂

This is definately a great forum for help and advice. Glad you have got it looked at and hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

Really pleased GP has been able to help, fingers crossed things will improve very quickly for you.

Thanks everyone...I hope so too. All I need now is for my BG's to take a hike! 😳

Grief! Lucky indeed, Amigo.

Hope it isn't chronic and that it can get sorted once and for all.

Good luck!
