After doing really well with my control and having mainly stable BS by counting the carbs, last week I had 3 hypos 😱 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I went down to 3.1 at about 6.30 in the evening (Friday I was at the checkout in Sainsburys and the poor guy on the check out had to pack my shopping as all I could do was stand there and chew jelly babies and wipe the sweat off my face feeling very embarrassed - not a good look 🙄 !!). I had to sit in the car park for half an hour and eat a malteser bar (not all bad then) before I was high enough to drive safely. I wasn't doing anything different and could not understand it...then on Saturday I started my period, 1st one since starting insulin at the end of August. Since then...back to my usual good (mainly) control...go figure ??? Any ladies noticed this ???

Hi we'll It is known that period and genral period cycle effects people differently. For example the week before mine my sugars are generally crash and week of period they go the other way. I double my normal carb dose the week before and half the week of period. It is a bit of a waiting game and see if you notice any patterns when it's time of month. Obviously easier if your regular and know exactly where you are in each cycle. Hope this helps 🙂

* the week before they are high the week after of period they crash, sorry typing bad

Mine the same as Clo. Quite high in the evening about 4/5 days before period and then when it starts they dip. Not always as predictable as this though!!

It used to be that way for me too. High a day or so before and then drop through the floor once it started.

Thank you for sharing ladies, something else for me to monitor and take into consideration 🙂

Has anyone tried depo injections or the progesterone-only pill to suppress their monthly cycles? Both of them had the effect of stopping mine completely, not that I had them for D-related problems.

The latter works for me too. Been on it at least 8 years I think - well before the D diagnosis anyway.
