This might be just the magic bullet for Type 1 diabetes for the future but don't hold your breath.
 
I read this earlier and laughed about it with my T1 pals.
None of us will be holding our breath.

It’s great to see that scientists are thinking innovatively but knowing how many (minor) problems we experience with external insulin pumps and that the speed of the insulin we get from the pharmacy is so much slower than insulin a healthy body produces, we think this is more than 10 years (the usual time we are told a cure for T1 will be available) away from becoming a viable solution.
 
I struggle to take normal tablets!!

So many ideas being considered at present. My hopes are for prevention in the future. Like @helli I would be delighted if they found something simple that juggled all the things that muddle our levels, but I won’t hold my breath.
