Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
just been reading how a type 1 has managed to come off insulin after 15 years of having diabetes hes being tested by doctor to see how it happened

Wrong diagnosis in the first place would be my guess. It will be like Halle Berry and really a Type 2.

A T1 your pancreas does not work (Auto immune) A T2s could work 30% or 80% Is it another news pap headline ? :D

My nurse told me of one case, and she knew it was true because she was in nursing school with the young woman at the time
Unfortunately once beta cells are gone, they're gone. BUT we can still have hope 🙂 I have been working on a research project looking into upcoming treatments (Are Pancreatic Transplant Procedures Suitable Long-term Treatments for People with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus?) and there have been quite a few promising trials and discoveries recently. With new changes in the law, we can expect to see some advances pretty soon! The future is bright!

yeah i ve been watching videos on some major advances one is a way to create a case for ilet transplants so the immune system doesnt attack it i could see that also help people getting transplants of major organs. but what i ve seen is they doing reseach now on ways to regenrate beta cells

Yes there is a lot of amazing stuff going on!
One of the main things I was interested in with beta cell replacement was how a 2005 study manipulated monocytes (unmatured red blood cells) and encouraged them to produce insulin. This study was based off a previous study using hepatocytes (liver cells) but one of the main problems at the moment is creating a mechanism which tells them when to stop.
I found these fascinating, you should definitely give them a read if you have some spare time! :D
