Jolly good! It also says that they will correct the error before putting it on iplayer, I will be interested to see that!

Daughter and I have just watched the amended bit of the episode on iplayer. All they’ve done is dub it so that he says “hypoglycaemia” instead of “hyperglycaemia”. So they are now showing him giving the correct treatment for a hypo, but still say to the woman “we think you have diabetes” and then proceed to describe all the symptoms of high blood sugar, and she isn’t going to be low if she didn’t know she was diabetic is she, so it’s still wrong!!
Sigh. I don’t suppose it’s worth complaining again to the BBC, some people find this impossible to comprehend. And the only way they could completely correct it is by refilming the whole scene, and I don’t suppose they have the time or inclination for that!

Grrrr
No better at all.
why would a person with undiagnosed diabetes being hypo!!!

I was undiagnosed diabetic and was hyper, not research done there

Indeed. A person with undiagnosed diabetes will have higher glucose levels (Hyper)
Without medication someone with Diabetes is not going to go dangerously low (hypo) and certainly the symptoms that they described alongside the emergency did not match.

Apparently one of the story lines on Coronation Street is about a youngster recently diagnosed with T1. Haven’t been tempted to watch, but friends have reported it to be well researched.

We should get Diabetes UK on the case, get them to contact the BBC.

I don't watch TV (just DVDs and Netflix) so I'm usually spared this kind of thing but two things always set me off.

One of them was during an Iron Man film where he invents a brand new element in the periodic table in order to power his heart device thing. He did this by standing on the floor, forming a sphere with his hands and seemingly doing some "oscar winning" meditating complete with every emotion known to mankind. Then after no more than 100 seconds, a new element appeared as though by magic in front of him. I can't remember what triggered more anger - that we were asked to believe he had created a new element in less time than it takes my kettle to boil or that he wasn't wearing any protective clothing for the inevitable highly radioactive emissions which would come from such an element.

The other thing that gets me is seeing either scientific maths on a blackboard in the background or watching computer programs being "run" when all they are doing on the screen is scrolling through source code. My family are sick to death of me using the remote control to freeze the screen until I'm happy that what they've displayed isn't bullshit. 🙂

If I ever see diabetes being mis-represented I'll report back dutifully and let everyone know.
Apparently the US series Quincey went to great lengths to get things right, even using the proper, functional equipment and obtaining the right compounds, then the actors were shown how to work the test correctly and the printouts were produced live and were part of the plot. I always liked that show but did not realise quite why until some time later.
