I have lived 4 years with Type 2 diabetes. I have only just started on Metformin. Hoping I can get out of the red and into the green! Have been on here previously (years ago) see the site has been revamped! Looking good!

Welcome back to the forum.
I assume that as you are now taking metformin that any dietary changes were not working for you however even in a few years some new thinking about managing to reduce blood glucose has been promoted as being successful. The standard NHS advice based on the Eat Well Plate is often too high in carbohydrates for many to tolerate. Low carb approach has been found to be successful so it may be the opportunity to revisit your dietary regime as metformin still needs dietary changes. This link may help you with some ideas for a starting point to do that. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/ as it seems to be a sensible approach which is based on normal food.

Hi Jao41, welcome back!

Glad you've found us again as it really does make a difference to have some support on this journey.

It's definitely possible to get in the green, just gotta find the right balance for you so hopefully you'll get there soon.

If there's anything we can do to help, feel free to reach out and let us know.

Thank you! A lot has changed for me 'health wise' and basically diabetes went from being in control to spiralling out of control! My numbers are dropping slowly but are a mess tbh. However, persistence and getting 'more walking' (slow but sure) in aswell as not 'over eating' should help. I can't do the things I done before to keep 'fit' and on top of things so is a matter of 'patience being a virtue'.
