That is a new one on me too!Welcome to the forum @RobbieU
I’ve not heard of that as a recommendation before - sounds fishy to me! (sorry... couldn’t resist)
The impression I get is that while some changes to cholesterol levels can be made through dietary changes, much of the cholesterol in the bloodstream is manufactured in the liver.
Do you know the results of your most recent cholesterol test? And what the various splits of different ’lipids’ that make up your total cholesterol?
i think knowing the details of the different parts is very helpful.
Do you take a statin?
Roughly how much carbohydrate do you think you eat in a day - have you ever tried to estimate it?

Hi - Thanks for your sharing. A family member is on a high fat low carb thing with Diabetes and is a model patient. I think it will probably need looking at as you along with several people have made a point.SInce 85% of the cholesterol in your blood stream is from your liver rather than from what you eat, it appears that your doctor still thinks that saturated fat (in meat) raises raises blood cholesterol.
Fish is good for diabetics - any traditional source of protein and fat is much better for us than the carbohydrates that keep getting pushed on us as being healthy.
It was the 'Eatwell plate' and 5 a day (with emphasis on fruit) which I blame for causing my T2D in the first place. I was slim on a higher fat lower carb way of eating until my GP managed to scare me into going low fat.
