Hiya people thanks for all the responses. I am clear of cancer. I got the all clear last year.
I've been having issues and lots of test and my blood sugar was high, so they did s fasted test and it was over 80. I'm putting my trust in my docs they have kept me alive thus far. I use carb manager. Is there 1 for tracking sugar thanks

It is total carbs you want to be taking note of so on the back of a food packet it would be listed as total carb which is the important bit and then it will say how much sugar. You can have something which is lowish sugar but still high carbs. Some breakfast cereals being the biggest culprit.
So not sure you need to track sugar.
There must be some explanation for your high HbA1C as from what you have said you really are not having lots of carbs unless you have seriously under estimated by looking at the net rather than total carbs.
lol yes, I am but Im trying to lose weight, so I'm being over cautious. I will have s bigger dinner. I've always eaten low carb and find it really hard to eat grains and bread, but I'm thinking I will need to add good slow release carbs into my diet. I've stopped having my 1 cup of coffee ☕ a day because I take 1 sugar lol it's terrifying me all this x
I'm puzzled as to why you think there are any good slow release carbs which would be advisable for you to eat, now that you know you have diabetes, which means you don't deal well with carbs.
There is no need to be hungry eating low carb, as protein and fats are nourishing and tend to stave off hunger. You might actually need to eat more of them as you could be inducing starvation mode where your metabolism shuts down as much as possible to counter a famine situation.
I was not restricting calories when I lost 50lb soon after diagnosis.
I have coffee with cream, but I used to drink it with a sweetener until I got used to eating low carb again.
If you are in the UK then the amount of carbs listed is the carbs which count - only in the US is there a difference as they include the fiber in the carbohydrates, in the UK is it listed separately as fibre, so there is no need to deduct anything.
I'm trying to get my head round this, I'm doing my research which differs depending on where you look. Micheal Mosely has the blood sugar diet, and suggests porridge for breakfast. It's only been 5 days lol, I have a long way to go. This group will keep me right ty
I think it might be worth telling us what medications you are on, since some medications will raise blood sugar in their own regardless of what you eat e.g. steroids.

Porridge really causes blood sugar spikes in some people, so the only way you will know if that includes you, is by testing. This applies to all foods containing carbs. I found I could have a small bowl of 20gm porridge made with 125ml unsweetened almond milk, topped with 40gm defrosted mixed berries for sweetness, not the whopping big bowl I used to have!
Hi @Anbemcc Adcal mentions sugar in it’s patient information sheet, but I doubt it’s enough to increase your BGs substantially. As to your high Hba1c and low carb intake, it’s possible that whilst you were fighting cancer your body was producing a high level of cortisol, a hormone that the body uses to fight infection. It’s a natural steroid that raises BGs. Really the only way to find out what’s going on now is to get a BG meter.
Hiya, that makes sense, I had nuetropic sepsis more than once, strange thing was I had no symptoms. And temp was over 40 think I have a weird body lol. But it's not gonna beat me, my next step is a meter but there are so many and I have no clue x
As @Pattidevans says getting a monitor would be a really useful thing for you as some things are just not adding up. Because of that you may be lucky in getting your GP to prescribe you one but if now then you can buy (from Amazon of similar) a relatively inexpensive monitor and strips (GlucoNavil are reliable). At the very least it would provide some concrete information to take to you G P to show what is going on and maybe you would need more tests to confirm a diagnosis. Self testing is nothing to be scared of and puts the control in your hands as you can see what foods may be affecting you in an unpredicted way.
I did ask my diabetic nurse but she wants me to see how we go for 12 weeks.i will buy 1 just to help with my food choices. Ty everyone for responding, you are all very knowledgeable, and will be a great help in my journey x
