I've been getting really itchy hives, mostly near my joints (elbows, shoulders knees) for the past few nights and can't really explain why. They go once I am up and about, as does the itchiness and they leave no trace. At night they are incredibly itchy! At first I thought it might be a reaction to the conditioner I used when washing the sheets, but the sheets I put on last night were done in a different one some time ago. I also thought they might be bug bites, but since they go without trace and there are so many of them that can't be right.

Anyone else had this and can offer an explanation? It's not really anything I've suffered from in the past so am at a bit of a loss to explain it!

It could be a reaction to one of the medications your on Alan.? or a food you eat

Are you possibly getting overheated at night? That sometimes gives me a hive-like rash. The only other thing that occurs to me is if the sheets are mixed fibres like polycotton, you may be reacting to the poly part, but then the rash wouldn't normally disappear so fast. Other than that, not a clue, sorry.

It could be something in your surroundings. For example the soap at work brings up dermatitis on my hands and wrists. I now use the Hibiscrub stuff instead. Perhaps keeping a stock of decent anti histamines around?

Nope, nothing unusual or new that might explain it. The website I looked at suggests that 95% are unexplained, so I guess that's as far as I'm likely to get! Haven't seen the doc yet because it's only happened for the past two or three nights and I forget about it during the day. Will be interesting to see if I get them again tonight - hope not!

Do you wear any pyjamas to bed, the material might be causing some kind of irritation

Nope, as I say, nothing has changed which is why it's so confusing! Last time I wore pyjamas was when I was in hospital at diagnosis! (Calm down ladies! 😉)

You may have a non specific allergy, possibly even an insect bite(theres some new and weird ones about). I get them, big as saucers if i am bitten by horse flies (odd but true). take some antihystamine, shouldnt be a problem with your medication, but read the leaflet my lawyer says! it works like magic. not being a doctor or nuffing, this is only my experience!!!

Do hope you feel better soon, bet you look gorgeous....hives and no jammies....
