I got some chocs for valentines that are still in the kitchen cupboard..still got half a box! ..I do get cravings for haribo jellies im not gonna lie..but that's usually through the night! (go back to bed jules haha)

Hi @julesob
just to reiterate what’s already been said, as your levels are so high and have been for a prolonged period please do seek some medical advice as soon as you can as it could lead to a medical emergency.

I'm in the north east too Jules, although not quite a Geordie... North West Durham near Consett.

@julesob - it is precisely HHS that we are ALL worried about with your BG levels and symptoms - it literally IS a killer if not treated PDQ.

aww thanks for that reply..it all makes sense..as I said before im going to try to contact my gps surgery on Monday to see if I can have a telephone appt hopefully with the nurse regarding my high levels..youve all been very helpful and I thank you!
Could you call before Monday? Even if surgery is closed a number for local out of hours services might be provided on their answerphone.

sorry I was just trying to make light of the situation..iv never been lower than 13 in the morning..evening around 22 or higher as iv already said..i really do appreciate everyones advice..and to the lady in Consett...hello! I know bits of Durham..have fond memories of going down to the riverside in the summer!

No need to apologise 🙂 But you really do need some medical advice as soon as possible. You might be thinking that you don’t feel that ill, but feelings can be deceptive. Eg when I was diagnosed with Type 1, I felt ill but not really ill if you get what I mean. However, I was admitted to hospital by ambulance and was clearly a lot more ill than I realised.

Just for comparison, my blood sugar then was in the high 20s - ie lower than yours.

Nobody will think you’re being silly phoning for advice nor that you’re wasting their time.

cheers Inca..tbh im going to have a lie down on my bed for an hour..just feel so tired!.. (but never actually sleep)..youve all been so helpful and iv been feeling like this since I was diagnosed..im not being lazy..this combined with my mental health issues is so frustrating!

You can make sugar free jellies if you want that type of food - If you make it with a sachet of gelatin, a sachet of the jelly and then the smallest amount of water it will dissolve in, put it over hot water and keep stirring until it dissolves, adding water a teaspoon at a time, then you can pour it into a small tray and cut it up with scissors once it is set.
No added sugar doesn't mean it has no sugar - check the total carbohydrate on the little label on the side or back. You might need a magnifying glass or a bright light to read it though.
As you are so high on the meter, reducing the carbohydrate you consume might get you down a bit over the weekend. You seem to have had no information about how to eat - the problem is the carbohydrate in starchy and sugary foods - starch from bread, rice, other cereals potato and root vegetables, sugar from fruit - all the things labelled as healthy foods, are what diabetics can't cope with.
Type twos can have good results by eating only small amounts of carbs, plus lots of fats and proteins - and get back to normal. It is usually down to other diabetics to advise them as some of the NHS education is dreadful and even dangerous. I was told that baked potato and beans was 'a good lunch' - I laughed. That upset them.

Hi Jules. My name is Barbara and I live just next to that river!

Jules, we are all really concerned about you and rightly so. Readings in the teens and low 20s are OK occasionally or in the early days of diagnosis but should not be the norm and put you at risk of long term complications. Readings up in the 30s are not acceptable at all as you are at immediate risk of HHS which can kill you. If you are below 20 at the moment than I accept that waiting until Monday may be OK but if you head up into the high 20s or 30s over the weekend without having binged on something high carb (remember this is not just about sugar but all carbohydrates, so starchy foods like crisps and biscuits (both sweet or savoury) and bread and pasta and rice as well) then you need to contact 111. If you do eat too many carbs and your BG rises to these levels then drink lots of water and monitor it and if it doesn't come down then still ring 111.

I don’t think you’re being lazy. You’re on our team. We all know how frustrating and wearing diabetes is, and we all care that you’re ok. X

hi everyone..iv not been online for a few days so im just giving you an update..i had a telephone appt this afternoon with the nurse who usually checks up on me..iv been advised to up my insulin..she said she will check on me again next week

That’s great @julesob 🙂 Both that your insulin has been adjusted and that you’re going to get a check-up call next week.

Let us know how it goes - and thanks for the update 🙂

So pleased you have been given some assistance and will get a follow up call next week. Please get back to us if you have any concerns in the meantime or just let us know how you are getting on with the new dose and that hopefully those BG readings are now at better levels.
Take care

hello again iv been up and down all night for the toilet and my reading this morning before insulin was 15..felt quite queasy and when I walked into the kitchen I had to hold onto the fridge as felt shaky..im ok now though..hope youre all ok x

Glad you’re feeling better. 15 is a great improvement on some of the readings you were getting last week so hopefully the changes the nurse made are working.
