It must be awful and pretty scary when doses are being increased but not controlling your levels. I really hope you get some useful advice this week and that your appointment with the clinic can be pushed through as an emergency, to get you seen quicker.
Out of curiosity, have you tried injecting your mixed insulin, morning and evening in 2 smaller doses. So for example, I need 20 units of Levemir (basal insulin) in the morning and instead of injecting all 20 units in one go, I inject 10 units into each buttock. This can help improve absorption and give more predictable and effective results, particularly with larger doses or where your injection sites are getting lumpy. Might be worth a try. You are still injecting the same amount of insulin but just dialing up half and injecting it in one place and then dialing up the other half and injecting it somewhere else. I personally don't change the needle for this but you can if you like.
So in your case 2x20 units in the morning and 2x21 units in the evening.

When you say massive swings are your levels coming down low as well as going up or do you just mean large spikes after meals and your levels are not dropping into single figures at all?

Are you using Libre or other sensors to monitor your levels or just finger pricks. If not using Libre then you might benefit from their free 14 day trial ie. one sensor which might give you and your medical professionals more idea of what is going on. If you go to the Freestyle Libre 2 website you should be able to find the free trial.
Yeah oddly enough I tried that for a few days, so I would do half on one side of my stomach and half the other (also did arms, thighs and bum) and still no difference.

Yeah so they aren’t lowering to the point of single figures, not had anything below 17 the past 2 weeks, but it’ll go from say 17.6 up to 28.5 like this morning, tested before lunch and it was 19.8 again, so down almost by 10, I expect it’ll be in the 20s again after lunch.

For the libre, my community service doesn’t provide them to anyone, apparently not enough staff are trained in monitoring them, and I did the free trial last year. Best thing ever, but right now I can’t afford to self fund.

Finally seen the dr.

Prescribed me Latus and Humalog rapid and even gave me a sensor!

Said the nurse should never had withdrawn it all and there’s no reason I can’t have a sensor.

So positive news and now to start and hopefully the levels will come back down over time. I know it won’t happen overnight but at least it’s hopefully a step in the right direction!

So pleased you have had some helpful support. Good luck with your basal/bolus insulin regime and shout up if you have any questions orget stuck or make a mistake and need help fixing it..... we all do that from time to time, like injecting too much of the wrong insulin. 🙄

Thank you! I still feel awful! Bloods aren’t down from 20 now, but mentally I feel a little bit more positive.

More in shock with the sensor if I’m honest! He said the only reason the nurse won’t prescribe is cos the team aren’t educated enough to log into the view of it from their side, but he said as I’m good with my recording and used one before, Albeit briefly, and I also have an understanding of how to use it and what it means, there’s no reason they can’t prescribe one.

So onwards and upwards (or downwards hopefully!) and I’m hoping this will be the start of getting back into control of it all.

And thank you I will do!
