Type 2
Hi, I am type 3c and I have recently had a full blood test
Today I got a result for c-peptide and it came back with a high of 1460
Can anyone explain this please1000003994.jpg

Your pancreas is producing plenty of insulin, but your body is resistant to the insulin you produce. How were you diagnosed type 3c as it may be you discuss whether you’re type 2 instead.

Hi I had a whipple in 2020 for duodenal adenocarcinoma, part of my pancreas was removed during surgery and I was diagnosed as type 3c

The remaining part of your pancreas is working very well in terms of insulin production then, but you do have insulin resistance as well which is common in type 2 diabetes

What medications do you take for your diabetes?

Hello @Derek2210, and Welcome from me. I also had Pancreatic Cancer, confirmed after my Whipple and total pancreatectomy 5yrs ago today. Since I no longer have a panc'y I have never had to take much interest in the finer points of C peptides!

Although those of us with a T3c diagnosis are pretty unusual, there is a wide mix of treatments amongst us - depending on the severity of the damage that has occurred to each of our panc'ys. A few treat their D just by oral meds, some by basal only and some are fully insulin dependent.

Apart from your C peptide question is there anything else we can help you with? How are you getting on overall?

Morning Derek as others have said it depends on which part of your pancreas has been damaged.
So from your C Peptide results it appears that your endocrine cells ( Beta cells) have been left undamaged as they are located in a specific area of the Pancreas whereas your exocrine cells are located more generally,
Presume you take Creon and there us a possibility of developing diabetes in the future as a direct result of pancreatic damage or removal of part of the pancreas but appears that you have sone insulin resistance already hence your current diagnosis.
