Hello, I am new at this I recently changed over to 4 times a day. Why is my blood sugar so high mostly at nightime is it something I eat. Or tiredness? Also I am low on iron as my period have stopped before Christmas. So need to get bs k on the high dosage of iron. Please advise??

Hiya - try testing your BG immediately before you eat - is it high before you have your dinner, or if not, at what time after dinner does it start to rise?

Have tested BG before eaten breakfast lunch and dinner all fine it bed time when insulin the slow acting one before sleep goes high around 18!, yikes

So what is your BG after dinner and before bed? Cos either you're not having enough fast acting with your dinner OR your long acting insulin has run out sometime in the evening.

You need to find out which it is and when it happens.

So the first thing to do cos it's quick, is to test on the hour every hour between the first mouthful of dinner and bedtime.

If that isn't conclusive then do a basal test - but this takes several days at least to do properly.

I assume you use Lantus as your long acting since it's once a day - is this correct?

Anyway - what has your hospital diabetes clinic recommended?
