Hi,

Been put on Ramipril low dosage 1.25mg once a day, not too bothered knew it was coming. Doc sent me to Hospital for ultra sound on kidneys to check no other underlying issues as I am under 40 (note to reader I'm well under 40!)
That went okay until I had to see quack with results, he said a lot of stuff which he was saying is nothing but also they are referring to hospital to specialist, something about background leakage or something, probably nothing but because of the Diabetes we have to be extra vigilant?!!

Bit depressed to be honest, no idea what it is or if it really is nothing, sometimes I am quite up beat and it's nothing, but right now even if it is nothing I think the worst! :(

I know there are a lot of educated folk out there, any comments would be welcome, they don't have to be upbeat mind!

Cheers for listening/reading.

A deflated Rossi.

Sorry to hear this Rossi :( Perhaps the doc was talking about protein leakage, which may not be anything to worry about and may in fact be improved by the ramipril. Always depressing to hear that something's wrong rather than everything's good, but hopefully it's one of those things like background retinopathy that will clear up with the action being taken - pretty sure we had a member here with a very similar story who then reported back that all was OK.

Just wonder if Ramipril is a new tick box drug for Diabetics, as I have been put on it too at that dose. GP said it was precautionary as it was a good drug for the protection of the kidneys.

All the ACE inhibitors are renal protective (they all seem to end with 'pril' - I was on Losinopril) Sadly I got the 'ACE cough' and had to change to an ARB - - they end with 'sartan' - started on Olmesartan, now on Losartan when they decided O was too expensive.

Thanks guys/gals feel a bit more positive now, as BT bob says or used to , it's good to talk!

"smiley face"
