Hi all

I have just tried to do the Dafne course ... And I realised quickly that the course is not catered to people who already know what they are doing.

However, doctors don't get to know you and will always push this course no matter whether you have been diabetic for decades or months...

This level of mixed ability/knowledge always forces the most experienced to walk at the slowest pace and as a result I did one day and left it.

So here I am to give a real experience of what Dafne is and suggest if you know what your doing but are having trouble with the discipline this isn't the course for you.

Get a cgm instead and pay attention to it.

I had a similar experience with my Type 2 course, and Emma who is doing the one year video diary for DUK reported the same thing. She was a year in, and I was 2 months in - despite being referred on day 1, I had to wait for a place on a course. I did know most of it, but I did pick up some tips, and corrections to what I thought I knew, but was wrong. 6 months in I might have felt it of no benefit.

I had a similar experience with the XPERT course. The DN was trying to get the rest of the class to where I already was. Most of them were recently diagnosed whereas I was six months in and already down to below pre-diabetic with my Hba1c. Picked up a few snippets about diet but only attended the first two out of six weeks.

I took my son to Desmond course recently and have to say was not impressed, very poor advice IMO and if it had not been for this forum I would have been totally lost. Very negative approach saying condition T2 totally irreversible, and then displaying endless plastic food including cakes saying just eat one not whole box!!! No mention of low carb and very derogatory about this approach just trying to push meds

As I said on another thread yours is the only negative post I have seen on this course, most even those who have had for years, have found they learnt hings on this course. I have read many reviews over the years of this course, form differnt parts of the country.
