Hi Martin thanks for your message . I got diagnosed about 6 years ago now thought I had a healthy diet then but obviously not ?
Couldn't tell you what my HbA1c was then as nothing was really explained to me was just given metformin . I've never drunk alcohol and always had pretty much a mediteranian diet , I instantly cut out sugar in my tea no cakes or sweets but gradually got worse . I am now on 2x 1000 mg sukkato slow release metformin taken at dinner time and have been for over a year now . Tried sitagliptin along side my sukkato but got side effects from that so stopped taking it . My bloods were getting worse so since the end of May I have been on almost a Keto diet really watching my carb intake and my diabetic nurse has put me on Ozempic 0.5 mg injection once a week but still taking the same dose of sukkato daily .
So I had my 3 monthly review on Tuesday was told my HbA1c in May was 79 and is now 49 , I have also lost on average 6 kilo's a month so I think I'm finally getting to grips with it ?
Regards Nigel
