Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I have been diagnosed with t2 diabetes last but it was only Christmas I found out I had diabetes as strange as it seems the Dr's never told me I have been going for the 4 months for blood test and the Dr's and dibetic nurse keeps saying I should be on medication for it my ac1 as been between 6.5 and 6.7 but they are refusing to do anything about it I am tired all the time and thirsty and peeing a lot I'm at my wits end I don't no what to do I don't eat much due to other health problems what should I do thank you

Welcome to the forum Allycat from a fellow T2.
I suggest you self test. Keep a record of your levels along with a food diary. After a couple of weeks hopefully you will see a pattern. You'll get an idea of how and which food affects your BG levels, along with any changes you make.
If your GP practice isn't working for you, consider changing.

Thank you I think I will have to
I think so, Diabetes is a serious condition meriting their full support, while your A1c is not particularly high, you are in the T2 range with 6.7 & the symptoms are typical of T2....

As Ralph says, start self-testing, an affordable meter is the SD Codefree from Amazon

BTW, welcome to the group

Wow I didn't think I would get any responses thank you and glad of all the help 🙂

Hello allycat

Hi Allycat,
How is your diet? Have you had advice about what to do to bring your blood glucose down? Do you know that it’s not just sugars we need to avoid but also carbohydrates in pasta, rice, potatoes and bread, many fruits will also increase your bg levels so testing is key to working out what you react to. Do feel free to ask any questions you might have, we are quite a friendly bunch 🙂

I haven't been told any thing really my diet consists of a 1 to 2 sandwiches a day I have lost over a stone in weight I must say I also have emphysema and acid reflux and I also have a hernia thank you all for taking the time to respond to me

It depends what bread you are using, if it white bread then your bloods will shoot up as it contains so much sugar you wouldn’t believe! Try the Burgen bread, it will make a difference 🙂
