Hi

My name is Melissa.

I am 32 and I live in north London.

I am a maternity support worker but who knows for how long with my current back problems!

I have been diabetic for the last 16 years and I am currently using the Medtronic 640g pump but without cgm.

I have been pumping coming up to one year now (31st March).

The pump has changed my life. 2 years ago my hba1c was 134 it's now down to 67 which I am more than delighted with.

I do struggle at times with diabetes hindered by the fact that in the past I have had diabulemia and I have had(still have really) a history of mental health problems with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder, depression and anxiety!

I hope to find a bit of support on here as I get very bad anxiety when it comes to going to hospital appointments. Stupid and pathetic I know considering I work in one!

Anyway that is all about me!

Hi and welcome to the forum :D

Hi Melissa, Welcome to the forum.

Glad to hear that your pump has made so much difference. It is a wonderful tool and that improvement has only happened because you have done a lot of hard work yourself. Well done

Lots of support available here so keep in touch.

Hi Melissa, welcome to the forum 🙂 Wow, that really is a transformation in your HbA1c, well done! 🙂 Sorry to hear about the problems you have had, you will get lots of friendly support here, so if you ever feel the need for a moan or a rant about things, feel free 🙂 Regarding the diabulimia, there is a very good charity which can help with this should you ever need it, see http://www.dwed.org.uk/ for information.

Welcome to the forum, Melissa, we're a friendly bunch.

Hello and welcome Melissa 🙂

Good to hear your pump has made so much difference for you. I had diabulimia in my 20's - it hadn't been given that name then so I was a T1 with anorexia/bulimia- it is a devastatingly hard, damaging illness to deal with and move away from, I hope you have had some good help with it and are starting to feel better.

You'll find great support on here, it's a fab place 🙂

Welcome to the forum, glad you found us. It really helps to be able to communicate with people who get it, so hopefully you will find loads of support on here. Amazing work on the Hba1c 🙂
