New to this but diabetic over 10 years.....
It annoys me know the new trend is everone over weight gets diabetes. I am not 9 stone. Never been overweight. Fit and active.how did I get it ...... Giving birth over 32 years ago. And it don't get easier as you get older because as you do your pancrus need help because according to the doc it don't work as well down to the fact your getting older!!
For 10 years I was on 850mg of metaformin got told this week normal dose for diabetic is 1000mg. So up it went +. 2 new tabs zincron. Last time he tried them on me I was between 2-5@ midday so he took me off said to low. Now the back .should be fun being scraped off the floor again!! Worried.:(

Hi Bethia, welcome to the forum 🙂 I hope you have a meter and strips so you can monitor the effect of the new medication on your levels! Just had to look up Zicron, I see it is gliclizide, which encourages your pancreas to produce more insulin, hence the possibility of low levels and hypos. If you drive, you must test before doing so and make sure you are above 5.0.

Thank you. All advice take and onboard. Never to old to learn new tricks.. Yes. I made sure I had stock of strips and my meter. I was in control of it until now. I am stuck on 9 all day but rises between 10 and 14 for the evening. I tried keeping it down lower by buying a step machine when my arthritis don't kick in.
But hay ho
Thank you kindly for your reply and warm welcome x

Hi and welcome Bertha - I am too new to offer any support but I can sympathise with the old 'arfur'🙄

Hi Bertha welcome, as Alan says with gliclazide you need to test before driving, its worth carrying some jelly babies or some or something similar in the car as if yo start to low you have an a quick sugar fix.

Thanks for you kindness by the way you all spelt my name wrong lol
It's beth with an ia on the end

Bethia :O

Blooming stupid autocorrect- Bethia- there - got it right this time.

Hope Bertha is OK though :D

Hi Bethia and welcome to the forum

Hiya Bethia - well doesn't look like the tablets are too much for your BG now does it? - so are you merely concerned due to what happened last time, or generally?
