Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi there!

I noticed you've not many posts so I though I'd help by saying hello. I'm a 31 year old Type 1 and am always looking to meet and chat with other diabetics. There aren't many people who understand what it's like so hopefully this messageboard will help connect people! Well done!

Liz

Welcome

🙂 Hi there Liz - Welcome to the site - it is in it's fledgling state - but so needed! Hope to see you enjoying the community and posting!

I Liz, I notice you are in Surrey which is a bit of distance from me! It is great to be able to communicate with peopel by email isn't it?

Exactly the point of this site!! It doesn't matter where you are from or your background - Personally I do not know any other type 1 diabetics - but both my husbands parents have very mild age onset diabets.

Hi
I am a 26 year old Type 1 living in London. I think it is really important to meet other diabetics and I am so glad Diabetes UK started this messageboard.

Hi,

I'm a 39 y o type 2 diabetic, diagnosed in August this year, was hoping to find a forum like this as I dont know any fellow diabetics in my area (Somerset) and be good to chat to some.

Steve

Yes, this is really great. I'm Type 2 on insulin, but I'm insulin resistant, and nobody can really tell me what that has in store for me. I do know that the massive amounts of insulin I'm giving are really making me put on weight. And as I'm disable with osteoarthritis I can't do any exercise either. I think it's time to call the vet!!!

Welcome!

Welcome Steve and Lizzie! Glad to see you posting - look forward to reading more in the future 🙂

Hi Everyone I agree this is a really good forum I'm a type 2 who hopes to learn from others, I was told I had diabetes nearly 3 years ago.

and I still hav'nt got my head round it.

I'm overweight (155kg) I find it difficult to exercise enough as I always feel tired and often fall asleep in the chair.

I have problems keeping my blood sugar within normal limits because I hav'nt got on top of my diet yet and I have a very sweet tooth

Maybe a completely superfluos question, but have you had your B12 and iron levels checked? If one is low, usually the other is as well. Especially low iron is a cause for tiredness.

About being a sweet tooth, how do you like the artificial sweeteners?
I just love my Coca-Cola, so you can imagine how happy I am with Coca-Cola Zero! :D
