I Just wanted to say hello. My husband was diagnosed as type 1 in January. We haven't had much help from NHS, so we are learning from forums, which we seem to be managing with. I am looking forward to reading any hints and tips.

Welcome to the forum, I sure people will be along with hints and tips but it would help for that to be appropriate if you would like to share what insulins he is taking and does he have a CGM for monitoring. What was his HbA1C on diagnosis.
Are there any particular issues he has at the moment. No questions are silly and will likely be things others have asked in the past.
Welcome to the forum @mcfcfan
Glad you have found us, we have a wealth of experience of T1 here who can help and advise from personal experience, just ask as many questions as you wish.
Being diagnose with any form of diabetes can be very daunting at first, so please tap into the knowledge our members have.
Welcome to the forum @mcfcfan . Very pleased that you have found us. There is plenty of practical experience to tap into on here. Fire away with whatever questions that you have. There is a lot to learn at the start.
If your husband is happy for you to do it will help us respond more effectively if we know how he manages his diabetes, such as:
What insulin(s) does he use
Is he on injections or a pump
Has he been given access to Libre/Dexcom sensors?
No questions are thought to be silly on here, so just ask.
Think Like A Pancreas is American but I liked the chatty style and it contains some great information, as does the Ragnar Hanas book. They’re books to read over time and to refer to. Type 1 is a huge learning experience.
