Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi! So I am newly diagnosed with diabetes type 2. I had gestational diabetes in 2 out of 4 of my pregnancies so knew it was a possibility but kind of thought ‘these things don’t happen to me’. Looking back I’ve had symptoms for over 6 months but more recently I was drinking loads, weeing in the night then lost a couple of pounds without trying so had a blood test! My HbA1c was 96!! The doctor has put me in 10mg of dapagliflozin which I started 5 days ago. I have been very careful with my diet too and have already lost some weight (these tablets help too apparently). I felt awful when first diagnosed for a while and I think it was sugar withdrawal!! Feeling more like myself now. The weird thing is I have more energy but still feel tired if that makes sense! I’ve got my diabetes education on Friday but waiting to hear from the doctor’s HCP to check me over. Not sure how quickly that will happen though ‍♀️
Anyway, just thought I’d pop in to say hello. Be interesting to hear if anyone else is on this medication.

Hi Genieman, welcome to the forum.

Gosh, you've been on quite a journey with diabetes so far! It's good to hear that you're getting on well with your medication and have seen some positive changes

It will take some time to adjust so keep doing what you're doing and make note of anything that may be concerning you.

It sounds as though you've got a good team around you which is very helpful, might not be as quick as when first diagnosed but having them around for support is a huge benefit.

Do have a look around the forum and let us know if we can help in any way.
