Relationship to Diabetes
At risk of diabetes
I'm a female over 50 with many health issues, had a heart attack 9 years ago, fibromyalgia, hiatus hernia , recently diagnosed prediabetic and the list goes on. I have battled with my weight majority of my life but it took this condition to finally get control over my diet , so far loving all the changes I've made for my new way of life and losing weight is alot easier than ever before. This forum has helped with great advice glad I found you all .

Welcome to the forum @janjo

Lovely to read such a positive post despite the challenges you are facing.

And nice to see you have ‘delurked’.

Congrats on the weight loss 🙂

Ahh a big warm welcome to you! I know how hard it is battling multiple health issues, but I’m so happy you have not let this latest blow defeat you and you are tackling it head on, I always think those that are diagnosed pre diabetic are very unlucky lucky people… amazing opportunity to make changes at the right time. Stay in touch, we are suckers for a good success story on here :D

Thank you @EmmaL76 , im more determined now than ever before in my life to make and keep these changes going, feeling good and losing weight helps no food cravings for the first time ever, its amazing

Hi and welcome from me too.

So pleased you are finding the forum helpful with the changes that you have made and that you are feeling uplifted by your success. I can totally relate to that as, whilst I wouldn't wish it on anyone, my diagnosis was the kick up the bum I needed to make those important changes and I am fitter, healthier, slimmer and more confident as a result, plus my joints don't complain nearly so much as they used to and I don't get migraines anymore, so there have definitely been quite a few positives to come out of it and I am reasonably confident that I will live longer with a better quality of life, particularly as a result of my dietary changes. It is such a simple thing in many respects (once you have the right information 🙄 ) but takes such a massive prod to push people into doing it.
I wish you lots of luck on your continued journey with diabetes and hope that the changes you have made will also have a positive impact on some of your other health issues, as I have found.
