Wife got same diagnosis few years back, had weight to lose so joined slimming world & went on to lose 5 stone in total, since then all bloods have been normal so could say she reversed condition.

That’s good, I am also overweight I find it hard to lose weight as I have other health conditions which I often have to take medications and steroids for.

Steroids can do that, wife had been on them while before going on diet, its not easy when having other health issues so feel for you.

Thanks, I have to try and I’m quite sure I will eventually get down to my ideal weight

Hi Alisonann, welcome to the forum.

Good to have you here as getting support can make a big difference, especially as you are in the pre-diabetic range.

Must be tricky to manage things whilst taking steroids, has your GP been able to provide any advice?

We've got lots of info on the site so do have a look around and let us know if there's anything we can help with.

Hi , gp said there’s no reason to see her and if I want nutritional advice then I can make appointment to see a nurse (surgery doesn’t have a diabetic nurse),but no appointments with nurse for the next month.

I think that by following the principals advocated here but taking it gently and gradually you will get benefit and you will be armed with some knowledge for if and when you see somebody at your surgery. What will be important is to have a repeat HbA1C test after 3 months so you can see if the adjustment you have made to your diet have been effective.
I'm not saying go the whole hog with what is in this link but hopefully it will give you some info and ideas. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
