Type 2
I have lived with Type 2 for 10+ years. It is managed with Metformin (4x500mg/day) somewhat moderate diet control and exercise. I have developed peripheral neuropathy in recent months and I now feel I must take better control of my diet and exercise.

Hi jocobo, welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about the peripheral neuropathy you're experiencing, must be challenging to deal with.

You mentioned taking better control of things, is there anything in particular that you need help with?

We've got lots of info on the site so do have a look around and fire away with any questions you may have.

I think I have peripheral neuropathy but my doctor doesn’t seem to take me seriously. I do control my diet and have Metformin too. I have lots of pains in my legs and ankles but my doctor just gives me painkillers that have no effect anyway. I have had a brain scan and peripheral nerve tests which they said were ok but why am I getting the pain and why are my legs below the knees always very cold to the touch? I’m worried.,

Has peripheral artery disease been considered?

Pretty common; under-diagnosed.

No. My doctor is useless. He just increases the level of the painkiller but never tries to address what the problem is.

I have thought about changing but it’s awkward around here. I’m talking to him on Wednesday and will be more forceful with my questions and not just accept what he says. I need this.

Good luck!
