Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi. New member as you can guess, just got diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes on Monday the 2nd of November. Quite scary, for me as I have several other illnesses in addition to Diabetes.

Getting control of your diabetes might help with other problems.
Since getting back to normal levels I have felt so much better than I did 5 or more years ago.

Welcome to the forum @GPz750R1
Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but glad that you have found us.
I hope that getting to grips with your Diabetes helps with the other conditions that you are managing.

In any form of Diabetes we are not able to process the glucose in our blood stream as we have no insulin (T1) or not enough (T2). There are many with T2 on here who successfully manage their condition by changes in their diet, matching their carbohydrate intake to what their body can manage, and /or increased levels of exercise.

A good start is knowing how many carbohydrates you are eating at each meal. I knew nothing about this until I was diagnosed, but now I am very familiar with carbs in our more regular meals, and Match ours to a target we have chosen for each meal. Everyone is different and it is a bit of experiment to find It whatbsuits you.

Any questions that you have, just ask. Nothing is considered silly on here.

Welcome to the forum GPz750R1, from a fellow T2.

Hello @GPz750R1 and welcome to the forum.
That initial diagnosis of Diabetes can be quite a shock - although it was quite a few years ago for me. I can still remember it well!
There is a lot that can be done to help lower your blood glucose levels. The 3 main things are changes to what you eat, possibly increasing exercise, and sometimes medication as recommended by your doctor.
For you these will need to be carefully integrated with care for your other illnesses.
If you are happy to tell us a bit more about these, there may be other members with similar experiences that may be able to help.

Sorry to hear about your diabetes diagnosis :(

But glad you have found the forum - it can be a real help to be able to ask any questions you have, share your fear, worries and frustrations and compare and share your experiences with others who instinctively ‘get it’ 🙂
