Hi all, I guess like most people on here I'm just looking for answers!

I had no issues until I had 2 major bowel surgeries after which the hospital suggested I drank Lucozade sport to get my strength back! This on top of my bad old sugar in tea/coffee habits and my love of Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer pushed me over the edge and here I am.

I'm diet controlling and when 1st diagnosed last year I got myself down to 4.8 to 5.5 range but since Christmas I've got lazy and its drifted up to around 10 again! all my fault I know and I'm now suffering from peripheral neuropathy in my fingers and feet which is no fun at all.

I'm hoping joining here will give me the motivation I need to get back to daily testing and maintenance as well as maybe some answers?

Here's Hoping!

Hi Tony, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sounds like you have the knowledge to get yourself back to good control - you'll get lots of help and support to get you there from the good people here 🙂 Take things one step at a time and hopefully, that neuropathy will just be transient - certainly a good incentive.

Hi Toney & welcome 🙂 I hate Pukozade because of the sugar in it. Fine if you are running a marathon but  Well done for diet controlled & keep active 🙂

Hello fellow Suffolk person. Hope you find lots of motivation here. There is also a new diabetes support group in Ipswich. If you think that would help too, you can find them on the diabetes UK website under local groups. Welcome to the forum 🙂

LOL @ Hobie! - Lucozade is a brill hypo remedy!

Hobie isn't the only one; I hate Lucozade because I find it far too sweet — and especially if I'm in hospital and awoken from a sound sleep by the nurses because of a 3am hypo. 😡 Though fortunately, the last time this happened I was given a cup of hot choc instead, which tasted much better and helped me get back to sleep. 🙂
