Relationship to Diabetes
Hi all,
I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Laura my DP has type 1 and has recurrent DKA. (As yet no one knows why).
I am struggling to take in everything I need to know and do to help him manage. I'm setting alarms through the night and having to deal with 2 young children during the day. I'm exhausted wich dose not make for a productive and efficient me.

Hi Laura, welcome to the forum 🙂 How long has he been diagnosed, and what insulin regime is he on? Does he have many hypos? I would highly recommend getting a copy of Type 1 Diabetes in Children, Adolescents and Young People by Ragnar Hanas (ignore the age, it's a great resource for everyone dealing with Type 1). There is a lot to learn, but please try not to become overwhelmed by everything. If there is anything you are not sure of or that is confusing you, please ask here - there are lots of people with decades of experience who will be happy to help 🙂

Hi. Thanks for the reply.
He has been T1 for 5 years and we have been an item for 9 months.
He carb counts on Novo and then 24 units of Lantus at night. I am managing to keep him between 4 and 14 when I don't sleep. (I fell asleep last night and left him to it. He hit 25!!! And took his Lantus 2 hours late.
He is soo frustrating.
