Hi thank you, my son diagnosed 5weeks ago now so will need lots of tips from you all.

Hello @MumofT1 welcome to the forum . Sorry to hear about your son, it must have been a terrible shock for you.
Their are lots of friendly knowledgeable people on here , so please ask any questions you have and we’ll do our best to help.

Welcome to the forum. Do let us know how you are getting on - a huge thing to get your head around. How old is your son? I hope you are getting good suopsupfrom the diabetes team at your hospital, but there is also a wealth of lived knowledge on here.

Hi MumofT1, welcome to the club that no-one wants to join. I would encourage you to ask any questions you want, no question is too silly. I can still remember the turmoil when mine were diagnosed as if it was yesterday, although it was nine years ago.

How are you getting on? It’s probably feeling very new and confusing still, but I promise this will improve and what seems a struggle now will soon become routine. You may have already noticed, but the forum has a parents board and a diabetes in school board for any questions specific to those areas. Take care and ask away.

Thank you all, I've just found all your comments. My son's 13.5yr and he's doing ok. Won't inject at school so he is only on free carb food and waits for home to eat. We have great nurse, she's given him omnipod &accu chek insight to try for few days so he gets an idea what it's like and see if that could help with managing food and insulin without injections. I think he's keen but you know what teenagers are like not saying much. So fingers crossed he gets pump soon .
