Hi :) seeing Gp tomorrow and saying hello

Another HbA1c will make a difference if that result of 29 is an error (they can happen) and it should actually be 129. Feeling sick with BG levels at 18 is worrying and you would be well advised to get some Ketostix to dip your urine for ketones. Something is not right and the BG levels you are getting of 18 would tie in with an HbA1c of 129. Diabetic KetoAcidosis (DKA) can develop quite rapidly and nausea/vomiting being is a symptom of it, so being able to test for ketones would enable you to know when you need urgent medical assistance and need to get yourself to A&E.

I’ll get some and keep an eye on them. Thank you. I wasn’t aware errors happened other than wondering if my medication may have masked something.

Take care and keep us posted

It may not be an error, but if blood sugars have rapidly increased then a1c will be considerably higher at the retest in a few weeks. Whilst a1c is a 3 month average it is most weighted to the latest month

They said to book another blood test in 2-3 weeks due to my recent BG levels being high. I felt awful last night after the 18.2 level (even though I had higher before) I was sick, shaky and felt like my mouth was so dry no matter what I drank. Thankfully feel better this morning. Not great but better than last night. I’m not really sure 2-3 weeks will make a difference to a AC1 to be honest as it’s an average.

The A1c test result is very heavily influenced by the previous 2-3 weeks, so it could be useful.

Thank you I have booked follow up bloods in a few weeks. I’m also monitoring my sugars on an app diary so I have it for info.

Still going to the loo a lot and been getting the odd night of being soaked in sweat. I haven’t felt as bad as I did in the beginning but still a lot of lethargy. Have had days where I fall asleep sat upright in the afternoon They have checked my thyroid and Hba1c this morning. I guess will just have to see. If it’s fine the BG monitor will go in the bin I guess.

I hope everything will be fine but worth keeping the monitor so you can check periodically to keep an eye on things.
If those tests reveal nothing then I should press for further investigation as your symptoms suggest something is going on.

Well they are fine Hba1c is 30 it’s very odd. Tbh I don’t really know what else they can do. It’s obviously not diabetes as it would show? I did get a second monitor to make sure it’s working. Maybe it’s just random and just one of those things. Guess it’s good it’s a healthy level and I’ll just have to carry on feeling rubbish and put it down to medication side effects. Thanks for the advice. I’ll leave the forum now 🙂
