Hello
Thought it was time I joined, although I’ve been using the forum for advice for a while now.

I was diagnosed just over six months ago - knew things weren’t right (increased thirst, going to the loo, dry mouth, tiredness and itchy where you don’t want to be itchy!), bloods were off the scale at 115, but I’ve got them down to 46 within three months. I’m on slow release Metformin (allergic to the other type) and gliclazide.

I’m trying to stay as low carb as possible - trying to explain to some people that it’s not me being faddy with food, it’s a way of life now is sometimes like banging my head against the wall!!

I know the feeling - you are not alone - I have heard all that 'fad diet' and 'carbs are an essential food group' for decades, but now I have a very good reason to tell them that Dr Atkins was right all along.
I hope that you are feeling all the benefits of lower blood glucose levels, and loosing the side effects of Metformin.

Glad you have joined us in here. Well done on getting you blood glucose levels down.
You are obviously moving things in the right direction. It is often difficult for other people to understand conditions with which they are not familiar, and their information often comes from news headlines.

Keep asking questions as there are plenty of people on here happy to help.

Well done on such a great achievement with your blood sugars :D I hear you loud and clear....i swear I will slap the next idiot that tells me their xxxx is diabetic and they eat all sorts 😡 I just keep telling myself that I can control my blood sugars but they can’t control their stupidity 😉
