Feeling very isolated, hope to gain some more support and get to know more people who understand what we're going through, I have a son and husband with type 1 diabetes

Hi Rayce, welcome to the forum 🙂 Well, you have just found hundreds of people who understand and appreciate what you are going through. Diabetes can be very isolating, particularly Type 1 as it is relatively rare in the population. This forum was originally established by a lady who had had Type 1 for over 30 years but had never met another Type 1,and it was this feeling of isolation that spurred her into establishing the site.

Has your son been diagnosed long? How about your husband. and what insulin regimes are they on? Something I and many others have found very helpful is the book Type 1 Diabetes in Children Adolescents by Ragnar Hanas - you can ignore the 'young' part in the title, it is applicable to ALL people with Type 1, whatever their age.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have - or if you feel like having a bit of a rant or a whinge, please go ahead - we will be happy to help in any way we can 🙂

Welcome to the forum, Rayce, glad you found us 🙂

Hello and welcome Rayce 🙂

There's a wealth of knowledgeable, lovely people who 'get' diabetes on here. I hope it will help you to feel less isolated 🙂

Husband has been diabetic for 36 yrs, diagnosed when he was 3, uses lantus, nova rapid and metformin, son is 7, was diagnosed February last year, he uses a pump, had the accu chek combo, but last week was put on the accu chek insight.
Thanks for listening
