hi was diagnosed type 1 just before Christmas. Found it a bit of a roller coaster so far! Am concerned as coming up on a long time planned solitary trip to Vietnam in June. Has anyone been to the area or have any travel advice? All tips welcome. Thanks

Welcome to the forum Bethany Harrison. If you have already arranged travel insurance, then inform company of your diagnosis. Or arrange insurance, informing them of diagnosis.
Practice estimating weight of carbohydrate in meals, so you can use correct dose of insulin.
I prefer to use a 0.5litre stainless steel vacuum flask to carry insulin in hot places, as it protects against knocks and vibration, as well as extremes of temperature. It has to be empty of water when passing through airport security, but at all other times, filled with cool water. That's what I've done on many trips in Middle East, Central & South America, southern Africa etc.
Hope you have a great trip.

hi thanks that's a really good plan re insulin. Much better than my cooler bag idea! Sorted insurance and told companies I'm travelling with. Thanks so much for reply really appreciated. X

Hi Welcome. It's best to keep all medicines and diabetic gear in your hand luggage. Insulin might not do well in a cold cargo hold or it may go astray.
Some people use a frio insulin wallet to keep it cooler, they just need water and last for something like two days befor needing to soak them again. I believe they need some air circulation as well

Would Bethany need a letter for airport security ?
