Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I was diagnosed about 8 years ago as type 2 after attending A & E with a dog bite. HbA1c was 102. This rapidly came down to the low 40s with Metformin and restricted carb diet. Last HbA1c was 39 the lowest it has ever been.

Great well done and an inspiration that it is possible by taking things seriously and take action with diet.
I personally found low carb was successful and it is now my new way of eating, I don't miss those high carb foods.

Hi and welcome back.

Well done on managing your diabetes so well over the years and attaining normal HbA1c results. Are you still taking Metformin?

Yes, still taking Metformin 500mg twice a day. I had wondered about stopping but am worried about upsetting the apple cart. Medics are not much help (as usual). When I started the carb restriction, it was still the recommendation to have 1/3 each of carbs/veg/protein.

Yes, didn't do some people too many favours, and then they wondered why people need more and more medication.
