Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello I'm Sarah from Grimsby. Finally got some answers into why I had felt so rough for so long.New gp New practice nurse got the ball rolling. Huge learning curve and a wake up call.20160407_143307.jpg

Welcome Sarah, glad you found us 🙂. You are right, there is a lot to learn when first diagnosed, but like you say, can be good to finally work out why you feel rough and be able to start trying to improve things. Are you on any medication? The stickies at the top of the newbies page are excellent for great info.

Wow Sarah - what a glamour puss you are for sure!!

Hi and welcome to the forums. Lots of folks here with lots of advice for most situations.

Hi Sarah, & welcome to the forum. I noticed you said 'wake up call'. Do you feel that you are to blame for your diabetes? Don't ever blame yourself for this condition. It's just bad luck. The media is full of utter c**p about how bad eating habits or obesity leads to Type 2 diabetes. If that's the case then how come so many people still get it who are health freaks & stick thin? And how come everyone that is overweight or eats badly isn't diabetic? There is a strong genetic link with Type 2. You are in the right place now though. Lots of lovely people on here to answer all your questions. Nice tattoos, by the way.:D

Hi Sarah, welcome to the forum 🙂 There is a lot to take in, especially at the beginning, but can I suggest you have a read of Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter, which will hopefully help with your understanding of diabetes and how to approach it. You might also like to get a copy of the excellent Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker - many of our members have found it to be really positive and helpful 🙂

Diabetes is a serious condition, but it can be very well-managed with the right knowledge and application. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have - if it is troubling or confusing you, there is bound to be someone here with an answer 🙂 I look forward to hearing more from you 🙂

Hi Sarah and welcome to forum

Hi Sarah!
Welcome from a fellow newbie, I was diagnosed a week ago with type 2 and still trying to get my head around it. The lovely people on this forum are helping me do that 🙂

Hi Sarah and welcome to the forum. :D

Welcome aboard. People here are very helpful, so ask away. They have helped me stay sane (relatively, my friends and relations would say!)
