Hi

I was diagnosed in Feb with T2 and underactive thyroid. I started by following the blood sugar diet and got my numbers down from 9.9 to 4.6 in 3 months and lost a stone in weight I was so chuffed with myself. went onto a low carb diet and my weight loss stopped and I have remained stable. I was then diagnosed with Familial High Cholesterol so am trying to bring that down through diet as well. Although, things are a bit confusing around what I can eat for all conditions. then my husband has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Now, mostly, I only eat brown food and nuts and grains etc. for the most part and my husband can only eat white foods, no nuts and no grains. Trying to sort out food for both of us that makes things easy for us as we both work full time and do not have much time for cooking 2 different meals each meal time. I spent last week trying to compromise and find something we could both eat. that went wrong BIG time as my BG has shot back up to 9.2 has anybody got any advice or helpful suggestions I can try. I am so confused with all the differing advice re diets that I feel I am going mad!!

Can't you both just organise and cook your own meals? Maybe go back to the blood sugar diet as you seemed to do so well on it.

Hello to you Text.

Hi Text, Welcome. Sorry I don't know enough about Ulcerative Colitis to even think about offering some advice.
I hope other here who do will be alone soon, so please keep checking back here.

I was diagnosed like you with both diabetes and underactive thyroid, I find that a food that they say is good for diabetes is something not so good for thyroid problems, it's very confusing
