Ok thanks for any encouragement
I’ve lost 5kgs in the last month I haven’t done any Road Races, Crits, Time Trials for 8yrs
I used to do 25 road races per year
racing with 20/25 year olds at age 56yrs had a 2nd in a national vets road race, a crit would be 28/29 mph for 1hr, done Lancaster town centre race Cole town centre race 16th both
I will get below 42 for my next A1c
My dad did an apprenticeship in bike building 'between the wars' and built bikes and tandems for the 25 and 50 mile speed trials - they used to get into the Guinness Book of Records, but they would finish the distance warped from the pressure.
When testing the tandem designs, Dad and his beefy rugby playing mates used to overtake cars. I made myself a bike from bits in his shed, all lightweight stuff, after I had my bike stolen when a student. That used to shift.
I'm about a generation older than you, so I can only advise that you enjoy it whilst you can and watch out for the crazies.

That’s a great story..! as you say time is marching on.. when I was at school 14/15 yrs I started to play Bowls there was some old pensioners that took us under there wing and I played in the 2 division league at the time I though them old boy had such a great time bowling I moved on to snooker.. but when I moved 7 year ago I was in the pub one lad said where short for the bowls team so I joined the team I’d had a 46yrs lay off..
now I’m one of the pensioners that I had thought about when I had all my life of front of me
I did pay my club bowls subscription to Ken he was 24yrs older than me & thought well you never know just keep waking up.
