Hi guys
I have type 2 for around 2 yrs now and I take metform x4 500mg 2 morning and 2 night time
I can't seem to get my readings down just latey from around 16 any advice

Welcome Melvin

What is your diet like? Particularly high carb foods like Bread, Pasta, Rice, Cereals & starchy vegetables, I found that cutting them out helped significantly.

Welcome melvin a warm welcome to the forum. Give us a typical days food intake for you and let's see if we can solve anything from that

Hi steff
My day starts with a bowl of cereals just right or blue berries to be honest I miss lunch I might have a biscuit or an orange or a bag of crisp
Evening meal I userly have potatoes mashed or roast ready made
veg and ether pork or steak or sausage with carrots and knobby greens and service Yorkshire pudding
I do eat a lot of cheese and crisp and biscuits in between not much chocolate
I am 12 stone and a 32 waste
I go to gym every day
RUN swim and boxercise and I packed up smoking 2 yrs ago I'm on the electric cigarettes

Morning Melvin
OK well personally for me blueberries and other dried fruits in cereals shoot me up like a rocket.how about porridge as an alternative or maybe something like scrambled egg on toast you can buy this bread alot of us use called burgen.
Lunch times how about getting salad of some kind get a tupperware box and take it to work with you I'm into fish atm eat alot of sardines etc may be bad idea for a tupperware box tho the smell lol. Get yourself educated with books from the library or buy them online there's a forum on here of recommended books have a look
. With regards instant mash as well as it tasting yuk it's not so good so maybe try sweet potato as an alternative it's lovely .crisps are my downfall used to buy pack of 6 and eat them all myself in 1 day now I buy 1 large bag and they last me a week I know it's hard the temptation is there but you learn eventually to moderate
Do you like nuts a handful as a snack could tide you ever.cheese I'm not into that big time but maybe incorporate it into an omelette a small amount and use mushrooms leek tomato things like that to add to flavour.sounds to me you do a fair bit of exercise so all power to you for that keep at it . Totally understand about smoking well done on packing up the real thing I don't know anything about these electric cigs so can't comment

Hi, Melvin. You're diet seems quite carby, which won't help your BG's at all. Cereals aren't good for most of us & potatoes can be bad too. I rarely have potatoes now, & if I do, only a small portion. And stay away from the biscuit tin!😛

Hi guys I have just took my readings again and they are 16 .4 again

Can stress and anxiety make blood sugars rise does anyone know
Welcome and yes, absolutely. Mind you, lots of other things do too! e.g. changes in weather, infections...

Hi guys
I had quaker oats for breakfast this morning only at 845 now 11.30 and it's still 16.3 before breakfast it was 9.1 any ideas I'm now scared to eat

Porridge is one of the things that despite the healthy label spike many people's bloods.
