Type 2
Hello there I’ve just found this forum although I was diagnosed with Type 2 in March 2020.
I’ve struggled with reducing my blood sugar levels despite losing 2 1/2 stone and being very active. I now weigh 9 stone and 3 months ago doubled my Metformin to 4 daily, max dose, but recent blood tests show no improvement yet again. Feeling despondent

Welcome to the forum, I think everybody goes through a phase when they feel to be making no progress.
Metformin only gives the body a helping hand in reducing blood glucose and dietary changes will have the most impact. Some food that people think are healthy are not so if Type 2 diabetic however you must have been doing something right to lose weight. But it maybe that your diet is still too carb heavy. Have a look at this link for some do's and don'ts and some ideas for modifying your diet. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
If you would like to post the sort of meals you have people might spot some foods which could be the problem.
